This blog is a form of resistance against the wave of far-right ideology that is sweeping across the world. I have a vision of what this blog will be about; I just hope I am not just adding to the cacophony of voices that is the internets, but that I am educating and opening people’s minds to ideas that to the general consensus are too radical, lefty, communist, or whatever pejorative one can find. I am in search of truth and knowledge of who I am as a black man in America. What does it mean to be fully myself in a world that seeks to control, belittle, and destroy my people’s self esteem?

I aim to educate myself and my audience on black thought leaders who have seldom been mentioned in our classrooms as kids. We will take a journey through history, to see how events in our past and decisions our ancestors made still affect us till this day. We will work through the philosophies of those civil-rights leaders that have been caricaturized through propaganda of their opposition. We will discuss sociology and how oppressed peoples can begin to take on aspects of their oppressors in order to survive.

The chief focus of this blog is to fight back against the complacency and willful ignorance of American society. Americans, for too long have been ok with half heartedly confronting the issues of racism and white supremacy. For too long we have sat in the muck and mire that destroyed the body and souls of our ancestors. We must now work together to pull ourselves out and clean ourselves off. If we don’t, the infection that has already spread from us sitting too long in this filth will surely kill us. We can escape and do the work that is needed before we lose who we are. Join me on this pertinent journey of self discovery and deconstruction of the myths that keep us from flourishing into our full potential.

Thank You for Your Time,

Nathan Douglas
